The National Waste and Recycling Association (NWRA) recently hosted its annual Industry Conference in San Diego, drawing professionals from across the waste management and recycling sectors. This event kicks off the year and creates an opportunity for members to network, learn, and celebrate achievements within the industry. Attendees experienced a dynamic program filled with insightful sessions, meaningful connections, and a special awards ceremony held aboard the historic USS Midway. A Gathering of Industry Leaders and Innovators

The NWRA conference in San Diego brought together a diverse group of professionals, including waste haulers, recyclers, equipment manufacturers, and other service providers as well as a special visit from the original recycler, Woodsy Owl. The partnership between NWRA and the National Forest Service is off to a great start as Woodsy is promoting NWRA's safe battery disposal program batterysafetynow.org.

This mix of attendees created a rich environment for exchanging ideas and exploring new trends. The event featured keynote speakers who addressed pressing challenges such as the current political climate in the industry, regulatory changes, and technological advancements in waste and recycling management.

Participants had the chance to attend meetings and panel discussions on various subjects as they lended their voice to conversations and committed their time to advancing the industry and their association. NWRA conferences encourage open dialogue and allow participants to share their experiences and solutions; conversations that contribute to telling the story of the industry.

The event included multiple networking breaks, receptions, and informal gatherings that fostered relationship-building. Every NWRA event generates feedback, and overwhelmingly the attendees say the number one reason they attend are the networking opportunities.
